Certification Overview

The ITIL Release, Control and Validation certification course is one of the path ways leading you to an ITIL expert certification in service and IT management. Prerequisites

ITIL foundation or practitioner certification in service management is mandatory beforehand before starting this course and will be required as a proof to gain admission for this course. Candidates holding the qualifications such as ITIL V2 Foundation bridge foundation plus or expert certification in service management can also work but will be required to show the evidence of their qualification.

Examination overview

Major topics for the ITIL Release, Control and Validation certification exam are listed below:

  1. Basic introduction to release, validation and control, purpose, objective and scope of the life cycle phase and concepts, overall planning and support for transition.
  2. Management for change, benefits or values to be gained from change management, challenges and risks lying ahead for the same and supporting change management in policy designing, strategies and concepts and interfaces for better management.
  3. Management for service asset, benefits or values to be gained from configuration and service asset, challenges and risks lying ahead for the same and supporting service asset and change in policy designing, strategies and concepts and interfaces for better implementation of the same.
  4. Release and deployment management, benefits or values to be gained from release management, challenges and risks lying ahead for the same and supporting release and deployment policy designing, strategies and concepts and interfaces for better outcome for the organization.
  5. Request fulfillment and change evaluation, interpretation of request fulfillment and change in evaluation principles and relationships for better application, analyzing the risks involved and measuring the values and benefits by implementing the same.
  6. Change evaluation and roles and responsibilities for release, validation and control, when and where to use them and how securely they fit in a working environment of the organization.

By the time the course gets completed, you would have developed many new skills to be used in the industry. You will be able to practice service management in the industry, analyze critical risk factors and benefits and change management to realize service transition.

At the end of the 5 day workshop, the test for the certification will take place which will be having a total of only 8 marks containing 5 marks each. You will be provided 90 minutes to completely finish the test. 70% marks or higher is an at least requirement to make yourself eligible for the certification process.

Validity of the certification

The ITIL certifications are legalized for a time limit ranging from three years. Conversely, once that time phase is finished, you will be obliged to apply for a re-certification. A failure in that case, will unfortunately make you lose your "legalized" and authorized status.
